The range of
transducers both for contact and immersion are separated into two general
groups i.e.
1. UM
Transducers
Transducers designated with
the prefix letters UM have the following characteristics as standard. a) Medium damped element of lead titanate offering good signal to
noise b) Stainless steel or anodised alloy case with soft finger grips on
hand held probes c) SMC connectors as standard (other connectors are available if
required) d) Single contact transducers supplied with ceramic wear face e) The combined twin compression and shear wave transducers have
replaceable wedges and stand off's f) UM immersion transducers are suited to through transmission
testing techniques e.g. composite testing and are generally housed in
stainless steel cases with UHF connectors as standard
2. UH
Transducers
Transducers
designated with the prefix UH have the following characteristics as
standard. a) Highly damped lead metaniobate element offering excellent
resolution and good sensitivity b) Stainless steel case with soft finger grips on hand held probes c) SMC connector is standard with optional Lemo or Microdot d) UH transducers (shear and compression) use a special matching
interface to improve pulse shape and energy transmission e) Twin compression transducers are compatible with most digital
thickness gauges available on the market f) Immersion transducers are available with flat, spherical or line
focussing
